A day of Keenin'

The other day we woke up bright and early and headed out to our garage. John is steadily working on his Doctorate project, and so Danya and I were going to clean up the garage and start setting boxes aside that had the oldest dates. I figured eventually we could go through it all and see what we really needed to keep. Well John was up early too and we decided to make it a family event. Danya had a blast running around in the garage too. Her favorite part of the day was when it came to time to shred some things. She loves to feed the shredder. The above photo is about half way through the day. The amazing and God ordained part of the day was that it was relatively cool out. We were in our garage without the door all the way open but we weren't overheating. This doesn't happen much for us. Usually just stepping into our garage with the door closed is an adventure in heat.

Danya found a little notebook that she rescued from the garbage. She calls it her Hamby gook. (Translation: Handy Dandy Notebook from blues clues) She asked for a color (translation: pen) and proceeded to make herself comfy in her stroller taking notes it would seem.
She also discovered lots of really cool hiding places. Which might explain where her little Thomas the tank engine toy has vanished to. We can't find him anywhere.
This is the stack of recyclable paper.
The pile of trash, well not the big blue container but our trash can was full due to yard work the previous day.
And then the pile to give away.

For those of you curious about Danya's speech delay and what her speech sounds like right now here is a short little video. This is what they call jargoning. She has conversational sounds down now we need to just work on the specifics of words. One of the other things we found in the 18 boxes that we were able to go through was one of John's old cell phones, after cleaning it up Danya had fun talking on the phone. Of course by the time I got the camera ready she was nearly done with the conversation, but you can still hear her. Danya does have speech therapy that comes out now 3 times a month. She has some specific goals she should meet. I can't remember where she was at on the development charts for speech, but I remember it was the only thing behind her age. Most everything else she is advanced in.
BTW, there are a bunch of new photos at her photo site. Just follow the link on the right side of the screen.
