My new diet

For over 2 years John and I have been ready for another Baby to add to our family. We've been keeping it all kind of quiet since we didn't want the pressure of everyone asking us about it every month. Last month we gave in and said we couldn't do anything about this on our own. Something must be wrong. We went to a fertility specialist and found out that I have developed PCOS, or Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome. PCOS occurs when your body gets an egg all ready to be released, but it doesn't release and forms a cyst. PCOS has lots of lovely side effects, but one of the main ones is that it makes you insulin resistant. This explains why I can't seem to loose weight easily. So the Dr put me on a diet called "The Belly Fat Cure". On this diet you have to limit your sugar intake to 15 grams of sugar a day or less. At first I thought there was no way I was gonna accomplish this.
However the book that this diet comes from is very nice. It has lots of photos and recipes.  This was my salad from one of the first days. It was very tasty. So when I go to plan a meal it's gotta be soy free, gluten free, and sugar free. I really miss soda pop, and my fancy chocolate bars. There is a type of Soda that I can have one of a day. It is sweetened with the stevia plant. It's called Zevia. I have a hard time finishing the whole can, it's diet soda and isn't near as carbonated as I like, but it's not all bad. At least it has cafine in it. I've been drinking lots and lots of sun tea. When ever I get a hungry twinge I just drink some more.

It has been an adventure so far and it's just barely begining. There are days that being "broken" has a big emotional toll, so I had to wait for a day that was more optimistic before writing this post. I've already lost 7 pounds and for the most part feel pretty good.

It's just one step to a healthier me.
